     The Law Offices of Carey S. Rosemarin, P.C. practices all facets of modern environmental law. In general, a matter can arise in any of three contexts -- regulatory/advisory, transactional, and enforcement/litigation. And they can involve any of the three "environmental media" -- air, water and hazardous substances. So, a matter can be as simple as a question of whether a particular discharge is allowed by an existing state-issued permit, or it can be as complex as a multimedia federal enforcement proceeding on a business that is about to be sold to a foreign concern. In either case, we apply the same creativity and attention to detail to get the job done. 

     We are familiar with all of the well-known federal environmental statutes and regulations (including CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, CWA, CAA and others) as well as their state counterparts. And, while we are located in the Midwest, we practice in jurisdictions nationwide.

     What sets us apart? Above all, we listen and analyze. The first issue to be addressed in discussing a new matter is determining precisely what the client wishes to achieve. Sometimes that is obvious, but experience teaches that often it is not. For example, a client whose property has been contaminated by the past or present operations of an industrial neighbor may initially demand a cleanup; a reasonable reaction to be sure. But further analysis may show that a cleanup will disrupt the client's own operations, and perhaps a secured indemnity for potential liabilities, including diminution in property value, may better serve the client's needs. 

     Further, we're able to provide big firm, big city service, at a small firm in the suburbs. The firm's principal, Carey S.
